SKOO welcomes submissions across genres, including poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, plays, and visual art. We enjoy art that is challenging, experimental, timeless, and elegant.
We are not using Submittable at this time, in order to keep SKOO sustainable. If you sent a submission through Submittable and did not receive a response, kindly re-send via email. Please email all submissions along with a third-person bio to somekindofopening@gmail.com with "Submission" and your genre in the subject line. Previously unpublished material only—we don't consider work posted on personal blogs or social media to be published. Simultaneous submissions are great, just please notify us if your work is accepted elsewhere! All rights revert back to artist upon publication.
Guidelines: We are currently accepting submissions for our eighth issue under the theme of "Openings & Closures." This is an open ended theme that invites artists to explore what ways one can be “open” in their work, and what ways one must necessarily be “closed,” or how these positionalities affect one’s work. Related topics include empathy, the empathic imagination, hardening, protection, etc. It is meant to serve as a gentle guiding touchstone for whatever ways you wish to interpret it!
